Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eric Shepard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alfredo Capobianco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eric Shepard has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eric Shepard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alfredo Capobianco! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Anthony Taglia and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Capobianco lands a nice looking kick to the body. Shepard takes a step back to recover. Shepard defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Capobianco. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shepard is defended easily by Capobianco. Capobianco throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shepard. Shepard appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Shepard lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Capobianco darts in looking for a takedown but Shepard gets double underhooks and turns Capobianco into the cage. Shepard tries to counter by clinching up but Capobianco breaks away and moves out of range. Capobianco tries to close the distance and clinch but Shepard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Capobianco lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Capobianco darts in looking for a takedown but Shepard gets double underhooks and turns Capobianco into the cage. Eric Shepard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alfredo Capobianco. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Capobianco is defended easily by Shepard. Shepard appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

and Shepard counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shepard is defended easily by Capobianco. Capobianco tries a head kick but it misses.

Capobianco shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shepard but Shepard pushes him off and we're back to square one. Shepard wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fight moves into the clinch position. Capobianco misses with a hook to the ribs.

Shepard is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Capobianco can't fight it off and eventually Shepard manages to take the fight to the floor. Capobianco looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Shepard throwing strikes but missing. Capobianco is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shepard defends well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shepard throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Capobianco works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Capobianco is trying to control the position but Shepard postures up. Capobianco trying to control the position here. Capobianco not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Shepard is looking to work some ground and pound but Capobianco has wrist control. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Capobianco utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Shepard avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Capobianco throws a series of punches but Shepard avoids them all with ease.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Capobianco tries to clinch up and Shepard counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shepard. Capobianco looks winded! Capobianco is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Capobianco wants to sweep but no luck. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shepard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Shepard scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Shepard makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Capobianco is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Shepard postures up in Capobianco's guard and throws a big left but Capobianco blocks it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shepard fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Capobianco manages to avoid it. Capobianco throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shepard. Capobianco tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Shepard avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shepard is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Capobianco gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Capobianco will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Shepard up against the cage.

Shepard is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Capobianco pulls him back up using the underhooks. Capobianco makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Capobianco with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Capobianco rushes Shepard and presses him up against the cage. Capobianco is looking to take this one to the mat. Capobianco pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Capobianco attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. A head kick by Capobianco misses and Shepard counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Alfredo Capobianco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No luck with that takedown attempt from Capobianco. Capobianco is breathing heavily. Shepard closes this distance looking for a takedown but Capobianco circles away. The fight stays on the outside here - Capobianco looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Capobianco takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Capobianco is looking to clinch. Shepard changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Nice takedown defense from Capobianco. No joy for Shepard on that attempt. Capobianco misses with the combination.

Capobianco tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shepard paws at him with a jab and circles away. Shepard misses with a takedown attempt - Capobianco sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Capobianco gets in close and instigates a clinch. Shepard has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Capobianco is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Shepard is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Capobianco is keeping busy. Shepard tries to score a body lock takedown but Capobianco shows good agility there to stay on his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alfredo Capobianco showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Capobianco shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shepard defends it nicely. Shepard swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Shepard misses with a body shot.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shepard thows a huge punch but Capobianco dodges it nicely.

Capobianco is pressing down on Shepard's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Shepard with a flurry of punches that miss. Shepard trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Shepard postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Capobianco lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Shepard has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Capobianco can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Capobianco has gone for a leg lock! Shepard slips out almost immediately though and dives into Capobianco's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Capobianco looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Capobianco is looking for a triangle but Shepard pushes his legs off easily.
Capobianco takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Shepard got a little sloppy there for a moment and Capobianco has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shepard has managed to get both his arms back between Capobianco's legs - danger averted. Shepard lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Shepard throws a big elbow that misses. Shepard has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Shepard cracks Capobianco with a solid left hand. Capobianco looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shepard is one step ahead there. Shepard scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shepard trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Shepard loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Capobianco wants to stand but Shepard is controlling the position. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Capobianco looking for a sweep. Not yet Capobianco, not yet. Shepard scoring with some ground and pound. Eric Shepard overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Shepard landing with the ground and pound. Capobianco has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Shepard missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Capobianco with a poor takedown and Shepard counters by moving into the clinch. Eric Shepard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alfredo Capobianco. Capobianco wants to get back to striking at distance but Shepard won't allow it.
Shepard tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Capobianco just stands there and leans against the cage. Capobianco breaks the clinch.

Alfredo Capobianco is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Capobianco looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Shepard is fending him off so far but Capobianco persists. Nope, Shepard circles away and we're back to standing.
And that's the end of the fight! Eric Shepard showed his dominance in that final round. I think Shepard has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
