Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ichi Takeshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinji Tanaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tanaka comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Yuudachi kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ichi Takeshi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinji Tanaka! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yuuki Gou and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Takeshi fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Tanaka on the side of the head. Tanaka scores with a hook to the body. Takeshi takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Takeshi thows a left - swing and a miss! Tanaka defending well as Takeshi loads up on a big left hand. Ichi Takeshi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Takeshi has his takedown stuffed and Tanaka counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Tanaka stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Tanaka wants it to stay on the feet. Tanaka closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Takeshi quickly recovers to half guard. Takeshi is staying active underneath Tanaka, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Tanaka might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Takeshi haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Tanaka not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Tanaka wants to lay and pray for a moment but Takeshi keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Takeshi has hold of Tanaka's hands but Tanaka slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Tanaka wants to pass to mount but Takeshi is defending the position. Takeshi is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Takeshi has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Tanaka is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Takeshi is trying to stand up here but Tanaka is controlling him well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tanaka is trying to control. Takeshi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Tanaka trying to pass the guard but Takeshi defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Tanaka is keen to just control but Takeshi is a slippery customer.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Tanaka shoots for a double leg takedown but Takeshi sprawls well. He's pushed Tanaka's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Jab, jab by Takeshi - just one landing. Takeshi cracks Tanaka with a right hand to the side of the head. Tanaka shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Takeshi sprawls well. Takeshi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tanaka gets slowly back to his feet. Tanaka moves away from the strike by Takeshi. Tanaka takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Takeshi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tanaka avoids it really well and circles away. Tanaka tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ichi Takeshi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takeshi misses with a jab, cross combination.
Tanaka staying out of range there. Tanaka uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Takeshi. Tanaka let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Takeshi clobbers Tanaka with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Takeshi scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Takeshi is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Tanaka is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Takeshi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Takeshi's back! Tanaka is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Takeshi has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Tanaka not allowing Takeshi to control his hands.
That's four minutes gone in the round. I would not like to be Takeshi right now.
Takeshi manages to scramble and ends up in full guard, under a barage of strikes . Great composure from Takeshi. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Takeshi keeping moving, preventing Tanaka from controlling successfully. Takeshi has Tanaka pulled in close to control his posture. Tanaka is looking to pass into half guard but Takeshi pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Takeshi is in guard. Tanaka wants to sweep but no luck. Takeshi postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ichi Takeshi will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Takeshi lunges at Tanaka with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Tanaka's hand. Takeshi takes a swing at Tanaka's ribcage but misses. Takeshi is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Tanaka takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Tanaka on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Tanaka scores with a jab to the body. Tanaka shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Takeshi sprawls well. Takeshi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tanaka gets slowly back to his feet. Tanaka shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Takeshi is trying to defend but Tanaka finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Takeshi is staying active underneath Tanaka, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Takeshi makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Takeshi dives in and grabs Tanaka's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tanaka pushes down on Takeshi's head and hops out. Tanaka doesn't manage to clinch there - Takeshi circles away.
Takeshi fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Takeshi lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Tanaka at a distance.
A punch combination from Takeshi misses. Takeshi looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Tanaka! Tanaka is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tanaka wants to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tanaka is looking to control Takeshi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tanaka avoid being mounted? Tanaka wants to improve his position but Takeshi is controlling well.
Takeshi is working for a kimura but Tanaka is defending it quite comfortably.
Takeshi is looking to take a break and control but Tanaka is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Tanaka moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Takeshi working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Tanaka's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tanaka is on top in guard.
Takeshi is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Tanaka rolls with it to try and escape but Takeshi cranks on the arm and Tanaka is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
