PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Lennox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marc Joseph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tommy Lennox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marc Joseph!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joseph misses with a kick to the body.
Lennox shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Joseph pinned against the cage. Joseph gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lennox fails to land the takedown.
Lennox swats away the attempt to clinch by Joseph.
Lennox displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Joseph throws out the jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lennox shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lennox was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Joseph is trying to escape the mount.

Joseph is in a horrible position here. Lennox smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Lennox blocks Joseph's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Joseph tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Joseph is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Lennox lands a big shot there that rocks Joseph but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Joseph is looking to improve his position but Lennox isn't that keen on the idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Joseph keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Joseph is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Joseph is wriggling around trying to escape.

Lennox jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Joseph manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Joseph holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Joseph is looking to regain half guard here but Lennox keeps moving and retains side control.
Lennox in side control lands a decent elbow.

Joseph is trying to improve his position.
Joseph looks gassed!
Lennox tries to advance to mount but Joseph denies him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Joseph tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lennox has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Joseph looks to move to half guard but instead Lennox has passed into mount! Damn!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lennox lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tommy Lennox dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Joseph moves in looking to clinch but Lennox pushes him off.
Lennox shoots in but Joseph avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lennox fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Joseph throws a quick inside leg kick.
Lennox closes this distance looking for a takedown but Joseph circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Lennox. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Lennox counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Joseph's guard now.
Joseph is trying to keep Lennox in close.
Lennox trying to control the position from guard on top but Joseph is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lennox tries to free his leg and advance position but Joseph is retaining full guard.
Joseph looking for a sweep. Not yet Joseph, not yet.
Joseph wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Joseph wants to stand and escape but Lennox is having none of it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Lennox closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lennox lands in his opponent's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Joseph wants to stand up but Lennox is controlling him.
Joseph is trying to keep Lennox in close.
Joseph working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lennox.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Joseph is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Joseph scores with a nice shot.
Joseph managing to control the position.
Lennox pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Joseph is keeping the position for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lennox shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Joseph but Joseph pushes him off and we're back to square one.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lennox.

Lennox gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Joseph is looking to work some ground and pound but Lennox has wrist control.
Joseph cracks Lennox with a solid left hand.
Joseph controlling from the top position.
Joseph won't allow Lennox to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Marc Joseph will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Lennox shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Joseph's guard.

Joseph pulls Lennox in close to prevent any damage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Joseph wants to sweep but no luck.

Joseph has an active guard here but Lennox has managed to pass into half guard.
Joseph trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Lennox can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Joseph is looking to escape.
Joseph really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lennox. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Joseph wants to hold on but Lennox pushes him away.
Joseph is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Lennox looking to isolate an arm here. Joseph doesn't see it coming and as Lennox extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Lennox!
