Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Delmar Kerr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimbo Smith! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kerr misses with a two punch combination.
Smith closes the distance and clinches. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Kerr takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Kerr tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kerr is stalling here.
The referee calls for Kerr to work.
Kerr using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Smith has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Smith drags the fight down to the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kerr throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smith works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kerr loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Smith is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Kerr moves into the clinch. Kerr really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Kerr looking to slow down the pace here. Smith pulls Kerr into guard.

Kerr looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Kerr throws an elbow that misses. Smith uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kerr's guard. Nice move by Smith! Kerr wants to get back to his feet but Smith is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Kerr looking for a guillotine here but Smith defends easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith gets a clinch. Kerr tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Smith takes a shot to the head. Smith is trying to pull guard but Kerr turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Kerr fails to pull guard.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Smith tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith decides to pull guard. Smith working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kerr. Kerr showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Kerr drops back looking for a leg! Smith is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smith manages to kick Kerr off! Kerr jumps back into Smith's guard. Smith has momentary wrist control but Kerr slips an elbow through the middle. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kerr is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Smith is trying to control the position from the bottom.

A close round but Jimbo Smith will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Kerr is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Smith moves into the clinch successfully.

Smith works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Kerr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smith manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Kerr bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.

Smith is aware though and is defending well. Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Smith is breathing heavily. Kerr is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Smith has his hands clasped together around Kerr's back. He's all about the action. Kerr stops Smith from getting back to his feet.

Kerr throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. We've been informed that Smith has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Smith is trying to maintain the position but Kerr is very close to passing his half guard. Kerr landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Kerr has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kerr lands with a punch from half guard. Kerr is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Kerr throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Smith wants to get back to full guard. Kerr looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kerr scores with a couple of nice shots. Kerr is trying to control the action in half guard but Smith is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Smith throws a head kick but Kerr moves out of range.
Kerr tries to counter by clinching up but Smith breaks away and moves out of range. Kerr is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Kerr moves into the clinch successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Kerr pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Smith tries to pull guard but Kerr holds him up against the cage and eventually Smith drops back down to his feet.

That was a close second round but I would say that Delmar Kerr will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Kerr throws a head kick that misses. Smith clinches up with Kerr and pushes him back against the cage. Smith is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Kerr is keeping busy. Kerr tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Smith gets through Kerr's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Kerr leaning against his opponent.
Smith jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kerr walks away with a smile on his face. Smith gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Kerr fails in his attempt to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Horrible takedown attempt by Smith or perhaps it was just good defense by Kerr, which made it look bad. Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. An inside leg kick from Smith misses. Kerr throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Smith lands on the inside with an uppercut. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Kerr is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Kerr can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight. Kerr avoiding damage.
Smith breaks the clinch.
Smith feints a jab promting Kerr to slip. Smith then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kerr slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Kerr closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Smith's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Delmar Kerr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimbo Smith. Kerr has closed the distance and engaged Smith in a clinch.

Kerr ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kerr no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Kerr keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully. Kerr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kerr looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith looking to pass the guard. Smith not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Kerr looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Smith postures up.
Kerr is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Smith presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Kerr avoiding damage as Smith throws knees to the body.
Come on Kerr - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith unloads a knee to the mid-section. Smith is trying to pull guard but Kerr has him pressed against the cage. Kerr stalling.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Smith goes for a takedown attempt but Kerr pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Kerr lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Smith buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Delmar Kerr. I think Kerr has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
