Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mica Makaaja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Henderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Makaaja comes into the arena with BassLovers United - I Can't Dance blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Alyssa Summers and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Henderson. No joy for Makaaja on that attempt.
Frank Henderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Makaaja fails with a takedown attempt.
Henderson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Makaaja was covering up waiting for the punch and Henderson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Henderson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Makaaja has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Henderson has managed to get both his arms back between Makaaja's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Makaaja has hold of Henderson's hands but Henderson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Makaaja is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Henderson pulls his head out easily.
Makaaja makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Makaaja.
Makaaja is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at CEC Underdark that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Makaaja escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Henderson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Makaaja is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Henderson has his hands clasped together but Makaaja extends and breaks Henderson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Makaaja.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mica Makaaja!
A relieved looking Mica Makaaja thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
