Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ulov Nalimov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yolo Yolovski! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yolovski on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Yolovski takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Yolovski wants to clinch but Nalimov slips to the side and Nalimov counters with a leg kick. Nalimov leaves Yolovski with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Nalimov connects with a right hand. Yolovski shakes it off. Yolovski shoots for a double leg takedown but Nalimov sprawls well. He's pushed Yolovski's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nalimov swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Nalimov connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Yolovski wants to clinch and Nalimov counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Yolovski with a lazy takedown attempt and Nalimov counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Ulov Nalimov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yolo Yolovski. Yolovski moves into the clinch. A frustrated look appears on Nalimov's face as he tries to break the clinch. Nalimov is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Yolovski takes a knee to the side of the body. Yolovski tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Nalimov smiles and moves away.
Yolovski wants to clinch and Nalimov counters with a right hand to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Yolovski tries for a takedown but Nalimov sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nalimov darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Yolovski moves in looking to clinch but Nalimov pushes him off. Yolovski closes the distance and pushes Nalimov back into the cage. Nalimov is trying to break the clinch but Yolovski is controlling him. Nalimov creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Yolovski's defenses. Yolovski gets control of Nalimov's arms and successfully pulls guard. Yolovski will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Nalimov wants to control from the top but Yolovski keeps moving. Nalimov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Nalimov looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Nalimov postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nalimov trying to control but Yolovski is working from the bottom. Nalimov won't allow Yolovski to sweep him here. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Yolovski looking for a triangle here. Nalimov is fighting it but it looks tight! Yolovski pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Nalimov is tapping out - this one is all over!
