Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Russell Forster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Acero Puno! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Forster with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Puno instigates a clinch. Forster keeps control of Puno as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Forster tries to pull guard but Puno won't allow it.
Forster looking for a takedown. Puno wants to break the clinch but can't.
Puno lands a damaging elbow. Forster jumps guard but Puno stands there with Forster around his waist. Forster gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Russell Forster. That's going to take a lot out of him. Puno wants to break free but Forster has control.
Puno lands a shot to the body. Nice elbow from Puno. Puno wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Forster goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Forster tries to break the clinch but Puno is controlling the position. Forster stalling in the clinch but Puno improves position. A right hook to the body lands for Forster.
Forster tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Puno wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Forster has him pressed against the cage. Puno breaks from the clinch.
Forster closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Forster tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Forster has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Puno looking for a sweep but Forster has passed into full mount! Oh no! Puno looks gassed! Forster prevents Puno from getting the reversal. Forster in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Forster takes Puno's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Puno is in trouble. Forster is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Forster has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Puno is defending well but eventually Forster manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Puno has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
