PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vyacheslav Romanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miko Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maia has chosen Hells Bells as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 26 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miko Maia!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Anthony Taglia and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romanov throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Maia.


It looks like Miko Maia has been cut.
Romanov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Maia scores with a hook to the body. Romanov takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Maia misses the shot to the body.
Both fighters circling a little - Romanov finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Romanov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Maia appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Romanov scores with a spinning back kick!

Maia gets a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Maia wants to pass to mount but Romanov is defending the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Maia can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Romanov controls the pace.

Romanov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Romanov's corner is telling him to maintain position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Romanov tries to bum rush Maia with a series of wild strikes but Maia uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Romanov crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Maia - the referee stops the clock and Romanov gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Maia. Romanov manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Maia buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Maia misses with a hook. Romanov ducked under it nicely.
