PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joey Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Poulter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dixon comes to the cage accompanied by Dark Tranquillity - Iridium. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 2, fighting out of New York, Joey Dixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 19 - 1, fighting out of London, Paul Poulter!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dixon chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Dixon cracks Poulter with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Poulter swings for the body but Dixon moves out of range.
Joey Dixon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dixon has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Dixon there as he acknowledges the shot.
Dixon has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

and Poulter counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Dixon is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Poulter throws a right and a left that Dixon avoids nicely.

Poulter drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Poulter throws a series of strikes that have Dixon backpedaling.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Dixon throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Poulter ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Dixon misses with the combination.
It seemed like Poulter was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Poulter moves away from the strike by Dixon.
Dixon swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Poulter is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Dixon throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Poulter was covering up waiting for the punch and Dixon finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Poulter looks to land a combination. Dixon sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Dixon bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Poulter's head backwards.
Dixon throws a right and a left that Poulter avoids nicely.
Dixon tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Poulter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
As Dixon backs off Poulter throws a huge counter combo but Dixon manages to avoid it all.

Poulter drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Poulter as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Dixon screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Poulter! Nice submission victory there!
