Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Parker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ian Turner! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Parker pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Parker throws a lazy head kick and Turner counters with a nice uppercut. Turner avoids the head kick by Parker.
Parker is looking to chop away at Turner's legs. Turner is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Parker. Parker throws a head kick that misses. Turner has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Parker is landing a low percentage of strikes. Parker looks to land a left hand but Turner moved out of range nicely. Turner changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Parker scores with a head kick. Turner tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
It looks like Ian Turner has been cut. Turner tries a low kick but Parker avoids it. Turner lands a big head kick that sends Parker tumbling to the mat! Turner takes a step backwards and waves Parker back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Peter Parker has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Parker wants to land a leg kick but Turner is out of range. Turner lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Parker is rocked! Turner misses with a two punch combination.
Oh Parker is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Turner lands a slapping body shot.
Turner scores with a spinning back kick! Turner displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Parker throws out the jab. Turner appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Parker seems to have got his legs back now. Turner misses with an uppercut. Parker saw that one coming. Parker takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Peter Parker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Turner feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Parker's calf. Parker pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Turner throws out a counter right but Parker avoids it with no problem.
That's one minute gone in the round. Turner uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Parker. Parker takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Turner throws a body shot but no joy. Turner takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Turner cracks Parker with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Turner throws a right hand that Parker ducks under and follows up with a left that Parker also avoids with ease. Nice takedown defense from Turner. No joy for Parker on that attempt. Turner tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Turner keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Turner clinches up against the cage. Turner misses with a hook to the ribs.
Turner is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Parker is keeping busy. Parker wants to break the clinch but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Parker tries to break the clinch but Turner is controlling the position. Turner prevents Parker from breaking the clinch. Turner pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Parker fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Parker has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Parker throws a nice head kick!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Parker tries to clinch up but Turner circles away and keeps his distance. Turner was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. Parker throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Turner crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Peter Parker!
