The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
French misses with a takedown attempt - Rippey sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
French gets caught napping as Rippey dives in and scores a takedown. French manages to retain guard.
French is looking for a triangle here but Rippey uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
French is trying to control Rippey's posture but Rippey avoids it.
Rippey is staying tight to French's torso, preventing him from escaping.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
French wants to control but Rippey postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round.
French throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Rippey is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. French is trying to escape and Rippey transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and French is forced to tap! Nice work there by Rippey! Very nice indeed!
