The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jorge Garcia and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bates darts in and clinches Neves Jr up against the cage.
Neves Jr is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Bates lands an uppercut.

Neves Jr changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bates fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Neves Jr has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bates avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Mario Bates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julio Cesar Neves Jr.

Bates gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Neves Jr.
Neves Jr drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bates gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Neves Jr seems to have recovered his senses.
Bates working some nice short punches in the clinch.

Bates throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Neves Jrs head.

Bates creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Neves Jr with a big uppercut! Neves Jr tries to clinch up but Bates pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Neves Jr to the mat! Neves Jr covers up and Bates unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mario Bates!
Mario Bates tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
