PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gregers Westerberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Charles Brock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Westerberg kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Maitre Gims - J'me Tire. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gregers Westerberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 27 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edward Charles Brock!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brock dives in and grabs Westerberg's left leg, looking for a takedown. Westerberg pushes down on Brock's head and hops out.
Westerberg throws a right and a left that both miss.
Westerberg throws a head kick that misses.
A punch combination from Westerberg misses.

Westerberg steps into range and cracks Brock with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Brock flops backwards and Westerberg dives into his guard looking to finish!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Westerberg wants to control from the top but Brock keeps moving.

Brock is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Westerberg defends well.
Westerberg distracts Brock with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Brock throws his legs up looking for a submission but Westerberg uses it to pass to side control.
Westerberg just content to control the position.
Brock is trying to get back to half guard.

Westerberg is putting a hurting on Brock here, landing some big shots from side control.
Westerberg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brock keeps working.
Brock is looking to regain half guard here but Westerberg keeps moving and retains side control.

Westerberg tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
You can see the frustration on Brock's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Brock is looking for a sweep.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Brock is letting Westerberg control him for a moment.

Westerberg is keen to just control but Brock is a slippery customer.
Brock has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brock working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Westerberg doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Westerberg manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Westerberg takes a swing at Brock's ribcage but misses.
Brock shoots in for a double leg but Westerberg sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Brock manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Westerberg on his heels. He'll look to pass Westerberg's guard now, I'm sure.

Brock drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Westerberg defends it well.

Brock shoots in and drives through. Westerberg sprawls well.
Westerberg is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brock can do to turn this around?

Brock displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Westerberg throws out the jab.

Brock is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Westerberg is just riding it out for now. Brock eventually gives up the hold.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Westerberg swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Sloppy strikes from Westerberg. Those never looked like landing.
Westerberg throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Westerberg tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've been told by Westerberg's head coaches at KY GYM that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Brock shoots in looking for a takedown but Westerberg manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Brock's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Brock fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Westerberg to the ground. Brock is now in Westerberg's guard.

Brock got a little sloppy there for a moment and Westerberg has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brock has managed to get both his arms back between Westerberg's legs - danger averted.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Brock drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Brock jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gregers Westerberg will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Westerberg will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Brock throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Westerberg's waist but Westerberg gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brock off to one side.

Brock takes a shot to the body in his stride.

A pretty intense looking Edward Charles Brock took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
