Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Juan Koski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koski's entrance music is Accept - Head Over Heels. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Juan Koski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Shields! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shields tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Koski was well out of range. Poor timing from Shields. Koski gets in close and instigates a clinch. Shields wants to break the clinch but can't.
Shields lands a shot to the body. Koski blocks a punch to the side of the head.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Koski. Shields misses with a hook to the ribs.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Koski connects with an inside leg kick. Koski uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Shields has time to react. Koski wants to slow Shields down by chopping away at his legs. Shields throws a hook to the side of Koski's head but Koski sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. We've been told by Koski's head coaches at Gangsterdamage that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. A swing and a miss from Shields. Koski walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
That's one minute gone in the round. A head kick misses from Shields. It appears Koski was looking to counter with a kick there. Koski avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Shields misses with a head kick.
Shields throws out a loose jab but Koski uses good head movement to avoid it. Shields throws a nice looking combination but Koski bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Shields connects with a body shot. Shields looks to land a right hand but Koski moved out of range. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Koski.
Koski takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Koski scores with a shot to the body.

It seemed like Shields was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Koski throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

It looks like Juan Koski has been cut. Koski lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Koski fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Shields looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Koski throws a head kick but Shields moves out of range.
Juan Koski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Koski bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Shields's head. Shields misses with an uppercut. Koski uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Shields has time to react. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shields, as that shot connected.
Shields takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Shields misses with a straight right. Shields throws the left hand but Koski avoids the punch easily. Shields misses with a leg kick. Shields fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Koski sprawls well initially but Shields persists and gets the takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Koski is pressing down on Shields's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Koski seems keen to control Shields's posture. Koski is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Shields loads up on a big right hand but Koski slips the punch. Shields takes a swing at Koski's ribcage but misses. Koski moves into range and connects with a jab. Shields swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Koski is looking to counter with a body kick. Koski scores with a nice right hand.
Koski throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Shields bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Koski's head backwards. Koski lands with a kick to the temple. Shields shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" No luck for Shields with that takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Juan Koski will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Juan Koski's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Koski wants to land a leg kick but Shields is out of range. Shields changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Koski moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Koski misses the body punch and Shields counters with a lovely straight right hand! Koski throws a head kick that misses enabling Shields to counter with a crisp jab. Shields misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Shields ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Koski moves away. Koski was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Koski is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Shields throws a series of punches but Koski moves out of range. Koski smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Koski cracks Shields with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Koski lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Koski throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Koski ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Koski manages to work his way to half guard, despite Shields's best efforts. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shields thows a huge punch but Koski dodges it nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Koski regains full guard. Nicely done. Koski trying to keep a closed guard but Shields is proving a slippery customer.
Koski seems keen to control Shields's posture. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Shields cracks Koski with a solid left hand. Shields throws an elbow that misses. Koski uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shields's guard. Nice move by Koski!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Koski got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shields has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Koski has managed to get both his arms back between Shields's legs - danger averted.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shields controlling the position. Shields looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Koski trying to control but Shields is working from the bottom. Koski trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Koski has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Koski misses the shot to the body. Koski clobbers Shields with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Shields misses with an uppercut. Koski saw that one coming.
And that's the end of the fight! Juan Koski showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Koski, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
