Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kev Rubio!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macias tries to clinch up.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Rubio! But no joy.
Rubio pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A jab lands there for Rubio.
Rubio throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rubio keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Rubio rushes Macias and presses him up against the cage.

Macias escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rubio misses with a series of wild punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rubio looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rubio landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Macias knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rubio on the ground.

Macias tries to roll over but Rubio keeps him under control.
Rubio takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Rubio stops Macias from getting back to his feet.

Rubio prevents Macias from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rubio not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Macias is trying to get back to full guard.
Rubio seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Macias is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rubio is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Rubio looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rubio is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Rubio stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Macias to get to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rubio will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Rubio rushes Macias and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Macias breaks from the clinch.
Rubio throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


Macias is rocked!


It looks like Jeffrey Macias has been cut.
Rubio fakes the body blow, causing Macias to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Macias goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kev Rubio!
Kev Rubio was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
