PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rumble Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Sanders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rumble Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Johnson.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Johnson, as that shot connected.
Johnson thows a left - swing and a miss!
Sanders tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Johnson swivels and escapes.
Johnson misses with an uppercut. Sanders saw that one coming.
Sanders keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Johnson.
Sanders ducks under a wild hook from Johnson.
Sanders scores with a head kick. Johnson tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sanders tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A combination from Johnson does no damage.
Johnson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Johnson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Johnson jabs Sanders to the body, keeping him at a distance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sanders throws a head kick but Johnson moves out of range.
Sanders throws a body kick that misses.
Sanders tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance.
Johnson lands a really nice looking cross but Sanders seems unphased.


It looks like Chris Sanders has been cut.
Sanders wants to clinch
and Sanders takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A punch lands to the side of Sanders 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Johnson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sanders wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Sanders checks a leg kick.
Johnson looks to land a combination but Sanders avoids it well.
Rumble Johnson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A big right from Johnson misses.
Johnson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Sanders walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sanders dives in for a single leg takedown but Johnson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Johnson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Johnson.

Sanders closes the distance and pushes Johnson back into the cage.
Johnson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Sanders manages to break the clinch.
Johnson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Sanders darts in looking for a takedown but Johnson gets double underhooks and turns Sanders into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Sanders. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Johnson throws a looping overhand right but Sanders ducks down to avoid it.
Sanders blocks a low kick nicely.
Sanders fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sanders is breathing heavily.
Sanders shoots in for a double leg but Johnson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A combination from Johnson does no damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sanders takes one to the chin there.
Sanders slips under a jab from Johnson.
Sanders tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Johnson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Good shot there by Johnson.
A jab from Johnson misses.
Johnson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Johnson scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.


Chris Sanders's cut is getting worse.
Johnson lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Johnson throws a nice inside leg kick.
Nice shot lands for Johnson.
Sanders steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Johnson.
It looked like Sanders was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Sanders throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Johnson thuds his right hand into Sanders's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Johnson connects with an inside leg kick.
Sanders is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sanders looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sanders shoots for a takedown but Johnson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Johnson lands a body shot.
Sanders tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sanders somewhat.
Johnson lands a lovely overhand right.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rumble Johnson dominated that round.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Johnson throws a hook but Sanders blocks it.
Johnson misses with a hook. Sanders ducked under it nicely.
Johnson has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.
Sanders blocks a jab.
Sanders changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Sanders fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Johnson throws a counter combo.
Johnson lunges at Sanders with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Sanders's hand.
Johnson thuds his right hand into Sanders's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Johnson throws a hook to the side of Sanders's head but Sanders sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Sanders with a poor takedown
and Johnson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


Sanders is rocked!


Chris Sanders's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Johnson lands an uppercut, right on the button! Sanders tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rumble Johnson!
After the fight, Rumble Johnson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
