Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Drake Kartella (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Callard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kartella comes to the cage accompanied by Real G's. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rob Callard! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kartella scores with a nice strike. A head kick misses from Kartella. Callard swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A slow jab from Callard misses its intended target. Kartella swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Kartella throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Callard buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Callard is looking to take a break and control but Kartella is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The strikes coming from Callard are missing the target in this wave of attacks. That's one minute gone in the round. Callard tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Callard has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Callard misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Callard landing a few strikes. Callard is putting a hurting on Kartella here, landing some big shots from side control. Callard postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Callard is working Kartella over with some ground and pound from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Callard tries to score with some ground and pound. Kartella controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Callard is looking to take a break and control but Kartella is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Callard has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Callard throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Callard in particular looking to stall. Callard throwing shots but Kartella is blocking nicely. Callard looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Kartella won't allow Callard to pass to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kartella avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Callard. Callard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kartella keeps working. Kartella trying to hold on to Callard's head to control him but Callard postures up.
Callard landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Callard trying to mount his opponent but Kartella defends it. Callard looks to land a strike but Kartella avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Callard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kartella swivels though and keeps the full guard. Callard trying to control but Kartella is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Callard landing with the ground and pound. Kartella pushes a forearm under Callard's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Callard is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
