Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Abdullah Al Abulbul! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Karukef Kingston! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A right-left combo lands from Kingston.
It looks like Abdullah Al Abulbul has been cut. Kingston lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kingston. Kingston throws out a powerful jab. Kingston leaves Al Abulbul with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Al Abulbul looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kingston is looking for a sweep. Al Abulbul is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Al Abulbul prevents Kingston from standing back up.
Al Abulbul is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kingston defends it well. Al Abulbul missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Kingston wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Al Abulbul passes the guard and advances to mount! Kingston wants to hold on but Al Abulbul pushes him away. Al Abulbul content just to control the position here. Al Abulbul goes for an armbar but Kingston turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kingston. Kingston must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Al Abulbul wants to improve his position but instead Kingston has moved into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Al Abulbul is not content to let Kingston control the position. Al Abulbul throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Al Abulbul is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kingston's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kingston's back! Al Abulbul is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Kingston is tapping out! This one is all over!
