Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Clark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergey Katasonov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Clark looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sergey Katasonov!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Katasonov scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Clark takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Katasonov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Clark moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Clark wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Katasonov lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Clark avoids the head kick by Katasonov.
Katasonov stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Katasonov scores with a head kick.
Katasonov throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Clark's head.

and Clark counters with a single leg into guard. Katasonov didn't expect that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Clark is trying to ground and pound but Katasonov uses the momentary lack of control by Clark to regain half guard.
Clark thows a huge punch but Katasonov dodges it nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Clark missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Clark is pressing down on Katasonov's thigh, looking to free his foot. Katasonov is holding on for now.
Katasonov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Clark is working away from the top position though.
Clark scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Clark looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Katasonov wants to stand back up but Clark manages to pass into side control.

Katasonov dodges the ground and pound from Clark.

Katasonov wants to get back to his feet.
Clark lands a few punches from side control.
Clark creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Katasonov sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Clark sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Katasonov is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Clark has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Katasonov tries a head kick but it misses.
Danga de danga de dang - Katasonov scores with a four punch combination!
We've been informed that Katasonov has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Katasonov lands with a thumping leg kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Katasonov.

Clark closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Katasonov's guard.
Clark working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Katasonov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Clark looking to sit in guard and control but Katasonov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clark has a closed guard, preventing Katasonov from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jack Clark will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A low kick from Katasonov is predictable there

and Clark counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Katasonov!

Clark has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Katasonov avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Clark.
Check out the look on Clark's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Clark tries to advance to mount but can't.
Clark works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Katasonov can't do much from the bottom here.

Clark controls the position.
Katasonov takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Clark thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Katasonov avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Clark.
Clark is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Katasonov can do to turn this around?
Clark advances to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Katasonov taking shots to the head.
The referee warns Katasonov that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Katasonov is breathing heavily.
Clark working the ground and pound effectively.


Katasonov is rocked!
Jack Clark overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Clark is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Katasonov goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Clark!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Jack Clark!
In defeat, Sergey Katasonov stepped up to the mic, saying 'I'll train even harder and come back to win!'.
