Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rangi Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robbie Goodlon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robbie Goodlon told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rangi Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Robbie Goodlon!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Williams does no damage.
Goodlon is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Williams throws a poor cross that misses

and Goodlon decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Williams's guard.
Goodlon postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Goodlon working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Goodlon throws an elbow that misses. Williams uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Goodlon's guard. Nice move by Williams!

Williams is looking to stand up but Goodlon won't let him.

Williams could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goodlon has a closed guard, preventing Williams from standing up.
Williams trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Goodlon wants to sweep here but Williams controlling him for the moment.
Williams has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Goodlon is proving hard to escape from.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Williams decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Goodlon, up you get!
Goodlon has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Williams is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Danga de danga de dang - Williams scores with a four punch combination!


It looks like Robbie Goodlon has been cut.
Williams tries to bum rush Goodlon with a series of wild strikes but Goodlon uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Goodlon is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Williams is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Goodlon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Ground and pound from Goodlon.
Williams tries to kick Goodlon off but Goodlon keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Goodlon drops an elbow to the side of Williams's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goodlon is nestled in close to Williams, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Goodlon not landing any meaningful shots this time.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Goodlon takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Williams knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Goodlon on the ground.
Goodlon prevents Williams from standing back up.

Goodlon has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Williams defend it? Goodlon steps over the head and cranks it - Williams is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Goodlon!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Robbie Goodlon!
