PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Hull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wayne Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Powers is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Remember The Name. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Hull!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wayne Powers!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powers shoots in looking for a takedown but Hull manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Powers's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Powers misses with a takedown attempt - Hull sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Chuck Hull has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wayne Powers.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Powers enables Hull to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Powers manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hull not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Hull drives through and clinches with Powers against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hull is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Powers defends it well.
Hull tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Powers.
Powers tries to roll over but Hull keeps him under control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Powers shoots for a double leg takedown but Hull sprawls well. He's pushed Powers's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hull shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Powers as he avoids it easily.
Powers throws a counter combo.
Powers fails to land the takedown.
Powers closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hull circles away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hull slaps away a takedown attempt from Powers, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Powers decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hull is looking to escape.

Hull working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Powers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Powers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Powers has hold of Hull's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Hull tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Powers cranks the arm and Hull screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Hull, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Wayne Powers!
A less than humble Wayne Powers misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
