Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Damian Rurkowiec (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tadeusz Soplica (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tadeusz Soplica! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rurkowiec closes the distance and clinches. Soplica goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Soplica wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Rurkowiec. Soplica with an attempt at a knee that misses.

It looked like Rurkowiec was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Soplica gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Rurkowiec counters by clinching up. Rurkowiec fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Soplica, pushing him back against the cage. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Rurkowiec just misses with a elbow thrown towards Soplica's brow. Soplica misses with a hook from the clinch. Rurkowiec on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Soplica jumps guard but Rurkowiec stands there with Soplica around his waist. Soplica gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rurkowiec's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Rurkowiec is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Soplica can do to turn this around? Soplica has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rurkowiec uses from the top position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Soplica has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Rurkowiec is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Soplica. Rurkowiec tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Soplica throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rurkowiec works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Rurkowiec is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Soplica defends well.

He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Soplica goes for a double leg but Rurkowiec avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rurkowiec continues to drive forward. That was a close second round but I would say that Damian Rurkowiec will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Rurkowiec feinted with a counter takedown. Soplica shoots in for a takedown but Rurkowiec shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Tadeusz Soplica has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Damian Rurkowiec is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Rurkowiec closes the distance and pushes Soplica back into the cage.
And that's the end of the fight! Damian Rurkowiec showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rurkowiec, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
