PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Caine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Allen Dente (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Caine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Allen Dente!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Roberts and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dente misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Dente tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Caine paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Dente throws a body kick that misses.
Caine shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Dente counters with a two punch combo.

Caine changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dente looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Caine wants to control but Dente is keeping him busy.
Caine works to advance to full mount. Dente defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Dente is squirming around, avoiding Caine's attempts to control the action.
Caine content just to control the position here.

Caine jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Dente manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Caine tries for a kimura but Dente is defending well.
Dente wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Dente is looking to regain half guard here but Caine keeps moving and retains side control.
Dente trying to remain calm as Caine controls from the top position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Dente throws a nice looking combination but Caine bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dente throws a series of punches but Caine avoids them all with ease.
Dente missing with a left hand there. Caine was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Dente misses with a series of wild punches.
Dente fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dente misses with a double jab.
Dente tries to clinch but Caine is having none of it.

Caine fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dente sprawls well initially but Caine persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Caine stalling.
Caine is looking to advance position but Dente won't allow it.
Caine wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dente keeps working.

Dente tries to get to full guard but Caine has control of the leg.
Dente tries to kick Caine off but Caine keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Caine decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Caine wants to pass the guard but Dente is defending well.

Caine is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dente doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Caine.

Caine looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Dente has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Caine is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Caine dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Caine misses with a looping right.
Caine changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dente tries to avoid it but Caine manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dente to the ground. Dente escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Dente counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Caine's guard now.

Caine is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Dente is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Dente won't allow Caine to sweep him here.
Caine wants to control but Dente passes easily into half guard.
Dente wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Caine desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Caine is trying to maintain the position but Dente is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dente wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Some wild striking there from Dente.
Dente throws a right and a left that Caine avoids nicely.
Caine has his takedown stuffed
and Dente counters with a nice low kick that buckles Caine's knee momentarily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Caine. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Caine avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Caine dodges the punch combination from Dente.

Caine scores with a takedown into Dente's guard.
Caine wants to control from the top but Dente keeps moving.
Caine pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dente is keeping the position for now.
Caine is standing up over Dente. Dente looks to escape but Caine dives into side control.
Caine advances nicely into full mount.

Caine with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Caine tries to control but Dente wriggling away.
Caine content just to control the position here.
Caine wants to control the pace but Dente is squirming around nicely.
Dente is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Dente is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Caine tries to control but Dente wriggling away.
Caine controlling from mount.
Caine throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Caine wants to take Dente's back here but Dente is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Allen Dente showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and Dente counters with a three punch combo that has Caine backing up. Caine nods at Dente to acknowledge the strikes.
Dente wants to clinch.
Dente fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dente works over Caine's head and body with a nice combination.
Caine misses with a takedown attempt
and Dente counters with a solid body kick.
Dente goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dente tries to clinch up but Caine circles away and keeps his distance.

Dente throws a series of punches but Caine avoids them all with ease.
Marcus Caine is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Caine shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Still in half guard, Caine seems content to control.
Dente wants to get back to his feet.
Dente misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Caine in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Dente tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Caine!
