The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fuerte gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Karasova counters with a low kick, right behind Fuerte 's knee.
Karasova looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Karasova stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Karasova wants it to stay on the feet.
Fuerte gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fuerte holds on and takes a little breather.
Fuerte trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Karasova trying to control but Fuerte is working from the bottom.

Fuerte is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Fuerte is keen to just control but Karasova is a slippery customer.

Fuerte stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Karasova swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Karasova might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Fuerte trying to control the position from guard on top but Karasova is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fuerte stays in close to Karasova's body and controls the position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Fuerte stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Karasova swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fuerte thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Karasova is looking for a triangle here but Fuerte uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Fuerte sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Karasova is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Fuerte has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fuerte thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Fuerte tries for a kimura but Karasova is defending well.
Fuerte misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Karasova wants to control but Fuerte postures up.
Fuerte cracks Karasova with a big right hand but Karasova just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fuerte is working Karasova over with some ground and pound from side control.
Fuerte grinds an elbow into Karasova's temple.

Fuerte scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Karasova to see if he's OK.
Karasova prevents Fuerte from improving position.
Fuerte is looking to take a break and control but Karasova is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lorenzo Fuerte dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Karasova will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Karasova scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Karasova shoots in but Fuerte avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Fuerte thinks about the counter body kick.
Karasova looks for a takedown but Fuerte sprawls well.
Fuerte throws a fast counter high kick but Karasova manages to duck under it in time.

Fuerte wants to control the pace but Karasova is squirming around nicely.
Fuerte is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Fuerte extends the arm and Karasova is forced to tap!
