PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crose McCringe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Crose McCringe!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCringe shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Wallace eats them both and turns towards McCringe to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
McCringe will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
McCringe shoots in looking for a takedown. Wallace tries to sprawl out of it but McCringe keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wallace manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wallace drops down looking for a counter takedown but McCringe sprawls and moves away.

and Wallace counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Wallace's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Wallace is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
McCringe wants to control but Wallace is keeping busy and won't allow it.
McCringe moves into full guard.

McCringe controls Wallace momentarily but Wallace frees himself.

Wallace drops back looking for a leg! McCringe is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McCringe manages to kick Wallace off! Wallace jumps back into McCringe's guard.
McCringe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wallace is one step ahead there.

Wallace thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Wallace drops back looking for a leg! McCringe is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McCringe manages to kick Wallace off! Wallace jumps back into McCringe's guard.

Wallace drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wallace jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now McCringe is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McCringe is looking to work some ground and pound but Wallace has wrist control.

McCringe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wallace swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McCringe trying to control the position from guard on top but Wallace is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Wallace looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McCringe has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at The Factory. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
McCringe slips nicely into half guard.
Wallace works his way to full guard. Good work.

McCringe wants to control from the top but Wallace keeps moving.

McCringe is trying to control the action in half guard but Wallace is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

McCringe is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wallace defends it well.
Wallace is staying active underneath McCringe, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Wallace tries to kick McCringe off but McCringe keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

McCringe seems to be looking for submissions.
McCringe prevents Wallace from standing back up.
McCringe throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
McCringe throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Wallace counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Wallace seems to be working for a kimura but McCringe defends the submission attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McCringe is trying to control but can't.

Wallace is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McCringe doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wallace.
McCringe wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Wallace dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


McCringe moves to clinch but Wallace breaks away

McCringe wants to sweep here but Wallace controlling him for the moment.
Wallace is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McCringe can do to turn this around?

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McCringe is pulling down on Wallace's head to control his posture.

Wallace drops back, looking for a kneebar! McCringe looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. McCringe looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from McCringe!


McCringe is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Wallace is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Wallace tries to bench press McCringe off him but McCringe keeps the position.

McCringe wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Wallace, who protects the arm well.
Wallace pushes McCringe away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, McCringe gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Wallace tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McCringe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

McCringe tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McCringe has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

McCringe throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Wallace has his hands clasped together but McCringe breaks the hold and Wallace is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by McCringe!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Crose McCringe!
Crose McCringe really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that BlackStar Athletics logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
The defeated Ryan Wallace had this to say: 'I'm going to look back and assess my skills. Hopefully I can come back stronger and much improved. Sorry to all my fans, but you can't win them all.'.
