Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kazushi Tanba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lars Paulsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paulsson has chosen Yellow Claw & The Opposites - Thunder as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Lars Paulsson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kazushi Tanba! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lars Paulsson! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paulsson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Tanba manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Paulsson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Tanba tries to strike from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Paulsson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Paulsson gets a double leg takedown into Tanba's guard. Tanba looking to hit a scissor sweep but Paulsson is one step ahead there. We've been hearing good reports from Tanba's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Paulsson scoring with some ground and pound. Paulsson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Tanba looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Paulsson postures up in Tanba's guard and throws a big left but Tanba blocks it. Tanba keeping moving, preventing Paulsson from controlling successfully. Tanba trying to keep a closed guard but Paulsson is proving a slippery customer.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Paulsson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Paulsson wants to control from the top but Tanba keeps moving. Tanba can't keep his opponent in guard - Paulsson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Paulsson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Paulsson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Paulsson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Tanba doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Paulsson. Paulsson is looking to take a break and control but Tanba is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Tanba might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Tanba is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Paulsson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Paulsson's back!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tanba misses with punches from the back. Paulsson tries to escape but Tanba has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Paulsson has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Paulsson covering up well and avoiding damage. Tanba lands a shot to the body. Tanba lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Paulsson hold on?!
Tanba is striking from the back but Paulsson escapes and manages to recover to half guard. Paulsson has hold of Tanba's hands but Tanba slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Lars Paulsson has got the better of the ground game so far. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Paulsson is looking to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paulsson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tanba pulls his head out easily. Tanba wants to free his trapped foot but Paulsson is holding on for dear life with his legs. Tanba lands with a punch from half guard. Paulsson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tanba is working away from the top position though. Paulsson actively working from the bottom here. Paulsson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Paulsson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Tanba's guard. Paulsson passes Tanba's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Tanba trying to control but Paulsson postures up.

A much better position for Tanba. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Paulsson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Tanba is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Paulsson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Tanba haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kazushi Tanba. I think Tanba has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
