Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Harcin Meld (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eduardo Zapata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zapata has chosen Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name as his entrance music. Harcin Meld has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eduardo Zapata! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown attempt by Zapata or perhaps it was just good defense by Meld, which made it look bad. Harcin Meld has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eduardo Zapata. Zapata fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Zapata shoots in and gets a takedown into Meld's guard. Zapata tries to free his leg and advance position but Meld is retaining full guard. Zapata postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round. Zapata trying to control the position from guard on top but Meld is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Meld definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Zapata postures up and lands a big shot to Meld's brow. Zapata loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Zapata in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Zapata distracts Meld with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Zapata drops back for a leg! Meld had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Zapata defends it easily. Meld has momentary wrist control but Zapata slips an elbow through the middle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Zapata landing with the ground and pound. Meld not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Zapata is in close to Meld's body, working some short punches and elbows. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Zapata postures up and lands a big shot to Meld's brow. Zapata slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Zapata working the body and head with strikes. Zapata is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Meld is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Meld is looking to reverse the position. Meld knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zapata on the ground. Meld is working to avoid the ground and pound but Zapata connects with a decent elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Meld's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Zapata working the body and head with strikes. Zapata scoring with punches from side control. Zapata tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Zapata creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Meld being controlled for a moment. Zapata working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Zapata is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Meld knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Zapata is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Meld is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Zapata has an Americana. Meld didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Zapata is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Zapata hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
