PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hung Rosario (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Philip Peralta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hung Rosario!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Philip Peralta!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Peralta.
Rosario pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Peralta throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Hung Rosario has been cut.
Rosario takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Peralta moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Peralta lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peralta swinging wildly here.
Rosario attempts a counter takedown but Peralta avoids it well and moves away.

Peralta clinches up against the cage.

Peralta tries to pull guard but Rosario won't allow it.

Peralta turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Peralta manages to end up in side control.

Peralta tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Peralta has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Check out the look on Peralta's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peralta working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Peralta throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Rosario taking punishment in the form of punches.

Peralta fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Peralta is trying to ground and pound but Rosario uses the momentary lack of control by Peralta to regain half guard.
Peralta throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Rosario is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Peralta scores with a couple of nice shots.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Peralta decides to stand up.

Peralta is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Rosario to keep the fight standing.

Peralta has picked Rosario up - he's going for a ride! Peralta dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Rosario is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Peralta's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Peralta's back!

Rosario is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Rosario somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Philip Peralta dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Hung Rosario's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Peralta looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
It looked like Rosario was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Rosario avoids the head kick by Peralta.
Peralta misses with a kick to the body.
Rosario takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Peralta misses with an attempted mid kick.
Rosario swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peralta tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Peralta looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Philip Peralta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Peralta looking to score a takedown here. Rosario is defending well but Peralta drives through and ends up in Rosario's guard.

Peralta is working for a kimura but Rosario is defending it quite comfortably.
Rosario is looking to control Peralta's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rosario avoid being mounted?

Rosario is trying is best to control the position here.
Peralta has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Peralta decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Peralta has a takedown stuffed.
Rosario half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Peralta fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Peralta has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Peralta gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Rosario counters with a nice body shot.
Peralta throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rosario connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Peralta throws a right hand that Rosario ducks under and follows up with a left that Rosario also avoids with ease.
Rosario appears to be looking for a big counter.

Peralta closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Peralta gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Peralta wants to stand but Rosario has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Rosario might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Peralta drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rosario looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rosario looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rosario!

Rosario could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Peralta is breathing heavily.
Peralta is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Rosario has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Rosario wants to lay and pray for a moment but Peralta keeps working.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Philip Peralta showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Peralta throws out a leg kick but Rosario moves out of range and Peralta only half commits.
Rosario thinks about countering with a head kick.
Rosario tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Peralta defends well and Rosario ends up having to push Peralta into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Rosario shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Peralta defends it nicely.

Rosario fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Peralta throws a body kick that misses.
Rosario tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Peralta swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hung Rosario. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Peralta throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Peralta has managed to clinch.
Rosario gets underhooks to prevent Peralta's takedown attempt.
Rosario wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Peralta goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rosario prevents it.
Rosario wants a takedown but no success here.

Rosario prevents the takedown attempt.
Peralta tries for a takedown but Rosario manages to get underhooks.

Peralta has picked Rosario up - he's going for a ride! Peralta dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Peralta takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Peralta is looking for a triangle but Rosario pushes his legs off easily.

Rosario is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Rosario got a little sloppy there for a moment and Peralta has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rosario has managed to get both his arms back between Peralta's legs - danger averted.
Rosario tries to stand but Peralta is controlling from the bottom.
Rosario wants to control from the top but Peralta keeps moving.
Philip Peralta is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rosario is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Peralta is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Peralta pulls Rosario in to control the position.
Peralta keeping moving, preventing Rosario from controlling successfully.
Philip Peralta has got the better of the ground game so far.
Peralta seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Peralta uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rosario.
Hung Rosario has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd cheers as Rosario lands an impressive looking overhand right. Peralta doesn't seem phased though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Philip Peralta comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Peralta has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Philip Peralta tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
