PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Walton Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buby Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Walton Nash has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Walton Nash seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Walton Nash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Buby Jay!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Fujiwara and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jay has Nash up against the cage in a clinch.

Jay escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Nash jumps guard but Jay turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Jay gets control of Nash's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jay will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Nash has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Nash is looking to work some ground and pound but Jay has wrist control.
Nash postures up in Jay's guard and throws a big left but Jay blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jay has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nash can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Nash is fighting to break Jay's control of his arms but Jay is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jay is defended easily by Nash.
Nash went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jay shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nash defends it nicely.
Jay looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Jay closes the distance and pushes Nash back into the cage.

Jay has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Nash is trying to keep an underhook but Jay manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Nash throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Jay drops an elbow to the side of Nash's head.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Jay seems to be looking for submissions.
Nash might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jay tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Jay is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nash doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jay.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jay looks for a takedown but Nash sprawls well.
Walton Nash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Buby Jay.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Jay drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Nash is trying to control the position but Jay postures up.
Jay postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Nash is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Nash can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jay controls the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Nash has his foot on Jay's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jay works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Buby Jay dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Jay misses with a head kick.
An attempted straight right counter from Nash misses the target.
Jay fails with the takedown.

Jay gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Jay has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Nash uses from the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jay seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Nash got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jay has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Nash has managed to get both his arms back between Jay's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jay is on top in guard.

Jay has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jay lands a couple of elbows.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jay content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Nash looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jay lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Jay slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Jay slips nicely into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jay is working for a submission of some sort.
Jay scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Jay is working for a kimura but Nash is defending it quite comfortably.

Jay throws a strike but Nash manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Jay tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Walton Nash!
