Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kerry Larson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marko Perkovic! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Dmitry Maklakov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Larson throws a lazy head kick and Perkovic counters with a nice double leg into guard. Perkovic is looking to stand up but Larson won't let him. Perkovic is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Perkovic trying to control the position from guard on top but Larson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Larson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Larson wants to stand but Perkovic is controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Larson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Perkovic stops Larson from standing up. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Larson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Perkovic manages to get himself to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perkovic keeping moving, preventing Larson from controlling successfully. Larson is looking to work some ground and pound but Perkovic has wrist control. Larson postures up.
Larson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Perkovic has control of Larson's left arm, preventing Larson from doing any damage.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Perkovic closes the distance and clinches. Perkovic is struggling to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Perkovic doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Larson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Perkovic just stands there and leans against the cage. Larson misses with an elbow strike.

Nice elbow from Larson. Larson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Perkovic avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kerry Larson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Larson jumps guard but Perkovic stands there with Larson around his waist. Larson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Perkovic is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Perkovic is trying to control the position but Larson postures up. Larson won't allow Perkovic to get back to his feet. Perkovic is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Larson is aware though and is defending well. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Perkovic seems keen to control Larson's posture.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Marko Perkovic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Perkovic misses with a few strikes there.
It looked like Larson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Perkovic shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Perkovic was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Larson wants to get back to his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marko Perkovic dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Perkovic throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Larson was covering up waiting for the punch and Perkovic finishes the takedown easily into guard. Perkovic stopping the sweep attempt from Larson. Perkovic won't allow Larson to get back to his feet. Perkovic controls the pace of the fight for a moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perkovic postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Larson wants to stand and escape but Perkovic is having none of it. Perkovic wants to control from the top but Larson keeps moving. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Larson gets caught flat footed, as Perkovic shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Larson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Perkovic is controlling him. Larson wriggles free and stands up. Perkovic clinches up with Larson and pushes him back against the cage. Perkovic content to slow the pace in the clinch.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Perkovic. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Perkovic manages to control the position for a moment. Perkovic takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Perkovic is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Perkovic tries to lock up and control but Larson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Perkovic is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Larson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Perkovic controls the pace. Kerry Larson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Perkovic must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Larson pulls Perkovic in close to prevent any damage. Larson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Larson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Perkovic tries to avoid it but Larson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Perkovic to the ground. Perkovic escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Perkovic feints the counter takedown. Larson takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Larson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Perkovic to score an easy takedown into full guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Larson wants to control but Perkovic passes easily into half guard.
Larson is staying active underneath Perkovic, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Perkovic stops Larson from getting back to his feet.

Larson wants to get back to his feet but Perkovic is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Perkovic trying to stand up but can't free himself from Larson's guard. Larson keeping moving, preventing Perkovic from controlling successfully.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Perkovic bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Marko Perkovic comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Perkovic has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
