Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alexandr Kuznetsov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Alaniz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alaniz has chosen Beck - Loser as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexandr Kuznetsov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Charlie Alaniz! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Ivan Kurochkin and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kuznetsov missing with a left hand there. Alaniz was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Alaniz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Alaniz showed some decent athleticism there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kuznetsov is trying to maintain the position but Alaniz is very close to passing his half guard. Alaniz not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Alaniz is looking for a kimura here.
Alaniz throwing shots but Kuznetsov is blocking nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alaniz is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Alaniz is looking to advance position but Kuznetsov won't allow it. The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Alaniz fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kuznetsov looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Alaniz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Alaniz not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Alaniz lands a nice short elbow. Alaniz seems to be looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Alaniz thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Alaniz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Alaniz prevents Kuznetsov from getting back to his feet. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Alaniz's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Nice straight punches there by Kuznetsov. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kuznetsov. Nice sprawl there from Kuznetsov as Alaniz shoots in. Alaniz throws a head kick but Kuznetsov moves out of range.
Alaniz takes one to the chin there. Alaniz dives in and grabs Kuznetsov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kuznetsov pushes down on Alaniz's head and hops out. Charlie Alaniz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kuznetsov pushes Alaniz up against the cage in a clinch. Kuznetsov misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Alaniz is trying to pull guard but Kuznetsov turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Alexandr Kuznetsov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charlie Alaniz. Alaniz wants to take the fight to the mat but Kuznetsov manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Kuznetsov pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Alaniz misses with an elbow over the top. Kuznetsov on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Kuznetsov keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Alaniz wants to work for an arm triangle but Kuznetsov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Kuznetsov looks to throw the jab but Alaniz is out of range. Kuznetsov goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

A short uppercut from Kuznetsov. Alaniz drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kuznetsov gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Kuznetsov is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Alaniz gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Kuznetsov regains guard.

Alaniz staying out of range there. Alaniz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kuznetsov circles away. It looked like Kuznetsov wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Kuznetsov on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Alaniz feints and as Kuznetsov raises his hands in defense, Alaniz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Kuznetsov wants to stand but Alaniz is controlling the position. Alaniz looking to pass the guard. Kuznetsov wants to sweep here but Alaniz controlling him for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alaniz has gone for a leg lock! Kuznetsov slips out almost immediately though and dives into Alaniz's guard. Alaniz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kuznetsov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kuznetsov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alaniz works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Alaniz being controlled here, momentarily. Alaniz is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Kuznetsov wanted to stand there but Alaniz had control of the position. Kuznetsov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Alaniz is trying to control the position but Kuznetsov postures up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Kuznetsov has closed the distance and engaged Alaniz in a clinch.
Alaniz is trying to pull guard but Kuznetsov has him pressed against the cage. Kuznetsov misses with a short punch on the inside. Alaniz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kuznetsov pulls him back up using the underhooks. Alexandr Kuznetsov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charlie Alaniz. Kuznetsov tries to throw a body punch but Alaniz avoids it by throwing Kuznetsov back against the cage. Alaniz is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Kuznetsov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Alexandr Kuznetsov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Alaniz has a takedown stuffed. Alaniz bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Alexandr Kuznetsov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alaniz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Alaniz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kuznetsov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alaniz somewhat. A punch combination from Kuznetsov misses. Kuznetsov scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alaniz fails with a takedown attempt. Kuznetsov gets in close and instigates a clinch. Alaniz jumps guard but Kuznetsov turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Alaniz tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Alaniz wants to pass the guard but Kuznetsov is keeping the position. Alaniz stops Kuznetsov from standing up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Alaniz postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Alaniz wants to get up but he can't break Kuznetsov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that's the end of the fight! Alexandr Kuznetsov showed his dominance in that final round. I think Kuznetsov has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
