PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raymond Holt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Theron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Holt comes to the cage accompanied by Brooklyn Nine-Nine Theme Song. Charlie Theron told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Raymond Holt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Charlie Theron!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Phil Schofield and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holt lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Holt connects with a right hand. Theron shakes it off.
Holt drops Theron with a beautiful combination! Theron stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Holt is looking for the KO!
Theron is rocked!
It looks like Charlie Theron has been cut.
Theron closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Theron is still in real trouble! Can Holt finish him?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Theron goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Holt has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Theron but great work by Holt.
Theron stops Holt from passing to mount.
Theron seems to have recovered his senses.
Theron is looking for a sweep.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Theron is trying to control Holt's posture but Holt avoids it.
Holt stands up and beckons Theron to his feet.
Holt closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Holt lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Theron is trying to pull guard but Holt has him pressed against the cage.
Theron has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Holt is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Theron has Holt pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Holt manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Raymond Holt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charlie Theron.
Holt digs a right hand into Theron's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Theron's gas tank.
A short uppercut from Theron.
Holt escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Holt swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Theron.
Holt loads up on a big right hand but Theron slips the punch.
Theron takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Holt uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Theron.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Theron walks straight into a right hand from Holt - that's dropped him! Holt jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Theron from any more punishment! Theron complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Raymond Holt!
Raymond Holt looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'Feels good to be back on my natural weight class. Now I don't have to drain myself everytime to make weight and now just focus on kicking as*s. I came in looking for a KO and make a statement in my new home. Thanks for having me London!'.
