Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jones Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Nathan Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jones Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson looking to score a takedown here. Mason is defending well but Johnson drives through and ends up in Mason's guard.
Mason trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Mason trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Mason will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Johnson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Johnson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Johnson's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Johnson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Johnson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mason striking off his back but it's not causing Johnson any problems.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Mason misses with a wild combination.

Mason looks to land a combination but Johnson avoids it well.
Johnson doesn't manage to clinch there - Mason circles away.
A combination from Mason does no damage.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mason enables Johnson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mason manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Johnson wants to stand but Mason is controlling his posture from full guard.

Johnson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Let's hope that Johnson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Johnson won't allow Mason to sweep him here.
Mason thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mason tries to clinch there but Johnson circles away.

Johnson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mason did well to prevent Johnson getting side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mason striking off his back but it's not causing Johnson any problems.
Johnson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Mason is retaining full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mason throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Johnson replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Mason blocks it well.

Johnson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mason sprawls well initially but Johnson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Johnson wants to take a breather but Mason is having none of it.
Johnson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Mason is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jones Johnson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Johnson tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Mason tries to roll over but Johnson keeps him under control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
No joy there for Mason, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Mason wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Johnson pulls guard.
Johnson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mason's guard.

Mason has his foot on Johnson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Johnson works his way back into a safe position though.
Mason not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Johnson lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Johnson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Mason is trying to control the position but Johnson postures up.

Mason throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Johnson content to stall in guard here.
Johnson wanted to stand there but Mason had control of the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Johnson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Johnson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mason tries to clinch up.
Mason scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Johnson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Johnson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mason is in all sorts of trouble here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mason is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Johnson is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Johnson lands with some strikes.
Mason tries to lock up and control but Johnson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mason working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Johnson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Johnson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Johnson lands a couple of digs.
Mason trying to keep a closed guard but Johnson is proving a slippery customer.
Johnson is looking to stand up but Mason won't let him.
Johnson distracts Mason with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.


Mason is rocked!

Mason throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Johnson escapes and throws Mason's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Johnson controlling the position from side mount.

Mason looks to move to half guard but instead Johnson has passed into mount! Damn!
Johnson with a couple of short strikes.
Oh Mason is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Johnson unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Mason wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Johnson celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jones Johnson!
