Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tom Belichick! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Quinn! The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Skip Squint and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quinn moves out of range of the leg kick from Belichick. A looping hook to the body misses from Belichick. Quinn does a little dance to reset his feet. Belichick throws a wild body kick that Quinn sees coming a mile off. Belichick really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Belichick throws a leg kick which misses Quinn's front leg but catches the back leg as Quinn tries to avoid it. A jab from Belichick misses. Belichick misses with a left hand and Quinn counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Quinn. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Quinn lands a couple of decent looking shots. Quinn trying to control the position from guard on top but Belichick is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Quinn is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Quinn throwing strikes but missing. Quinn postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Quinn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quinn content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Quinn landing with the ground and pound. Quinn scoring with punches to the head and body. Belichick wants to stand up but Quinn is controlling him. Belichick preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Quinn lands a couple of elbows. Quinn with a nice head shot there. Quinn trying to control but Belichick is working from the bottom. Quinn throws a big right hand that misses. Quinn postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Quinn content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Quinn pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Belichick is keeping the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Quinn postures up and lands a big shot to Belichick's brow. Quinn wants to control from the top but Belichick keeps moving. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Quinn's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Belichick is rocked! Quinn is working Belichick over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Belichick working a defensive guard here.
Quinn content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Oh Belichick is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Quinn postures up and lands a big shot to Belichick's brow. Quinn stands up over Belichick, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Quinn trying to control but Belichick is working from the bottom. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hammerfist, elbow! yells Quinn's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Quinn trying to control but Belichick is working from the bottom. Quinn prevents Belichick from getting back to his feet. Belichick seems to have got his legs back now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quinn works over Belichick with some ground and pound from guard. Quinn is working Belichick over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Quinn with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Quinn lands a couple of elbows. Belichick has momentary wrist control but Quinn slips an elbow through the middle. Quinn gets to his feet and stands over Belichick, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Belichick felt that one! Quinn unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Belichick from any more punishment!
