Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lavern Haney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Cain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tommy Cain will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lavern Haney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tommy Cain!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cain drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Haney could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Haney keeping moving, preventing Cain from controlling successfully.
Cain is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Cain with a flurry of punches that miss.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cain accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Haney keeping moving, preventing Cain from controlling successfully.
Cain has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Haney is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cain is controlling him.

Cain rushes Haney and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Haney tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Haney breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Haney shoots in for a takedown but Cain shows good takedown defense.

Cain closes the distance and clinches.

Haney is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Haney's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Haney is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Haney gets tackled into the cage by Cain. Cain maintains the clinch.
Haney wants to break free but Cain has control.

Cain bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Cain stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Cain misses with a hook to the body

and Haney counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Haney.
Haney's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Haney stands and steps away. Cain gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Haney shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cain shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Haney is trying to stand up here but Cain is controlling him well.
Haney landing small, sideways elbows.
Cain wants to control but Haney is keeping him busy.
Cain is stalling here. Haney is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Cain seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Haney has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Cain tries to buck Haney off but Haney is having none of it.

Cain regains half guard.
Haney is controlling the pace.
Cain has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Haney is working away from the top position though.

Haney is trying to work for a kimura but Cain is defending well.
Haney wants to stand up but Cain is controlling the position.

Haney is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cain doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Haney.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Haney seems to be working for a kimura but Cain defends the submission attempt.
Cain is looking to control Haney's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cain avoid being mounted?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Haney seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Tommy Cain will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


A head kick from Cain lands but Haney takes it in his stride.

Haney gets to his feet - Cain follows without any prompting.
Cain has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Cain throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Haney was covering up waiting for the punch and Cain finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Cain is pushing down on Haney's leg trying to pass to half guard. Haney is fighting to maintain full guard but Cain has managed to sneak the leg through.
Cain is looking to take a break and control but Haney is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Cain tries to pass to full mount but Haney defends it.

Cain is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Cain takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cain is looking to advance position but Haney won't allow it.

Haney with the active half guard here but Cain passes nicely into side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Haney tries to hold on but Cain pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Haney has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Cain's lack of action.

Tommy Cain comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cain has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
