Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brian Jenen! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brody Macbeth! The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Skip Squint and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jenen misses with a body shot.
Macbeth tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jenen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Macbeth scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Jenen misses with a jab, cross combination.
Macbeth looks to clinch and Jenen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Macbeth is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Jenen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Jenen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jenen passes easily into side control. Nice work. Jenen trying to control the position but Macbeth is working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Macbeth can do anything to dispel that myth. Jenen has hold of Macbeth's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Macbeth tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Jenen cranks the arm and Macbeth screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Macbeth, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Brian Jenen! Brian Jenen retains his middleweight title! Our winner, Brian Jenen, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
