Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roderick Walter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Duggan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Josh Duggan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roderick Walter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Josh Duggan!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duggan gets the takedown into side control.
Duggan wants to stand but Walter has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
Walter has his hands on Duggan's head, controlling the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Duggan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duggan content to stall in guard here.
Walter looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Duggan is looking to work some ground and pound but Walter has wrist control.
Duggan wants to get up but he can't break Walter's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Duggan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Duggan wants it to stay on the feet.
Duggan unleashes a big counter combination but Walter bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Duggan tries to land a leg kick but Walter saw it coming and moves away.

Duggan has Walter up against the cage in a clinch.

Duggan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Duggan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Walter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Walter is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Duggan trying to control the action but Walter is working from the bottom.

Walter prevents Duggan from moving into mount.
Walter parries the strikes from Duggan easily there. Duggan is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Walter to escape.

Walter is looking to regain half guard here but Duggan keeps moving and retains side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Duggan laying and praying for a moment but Walter takes advantage and regains half guard.
Duggan looks to land a strike but Walter avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Walter bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Duggan's guard.

Walter in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Duggan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Walter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Walter connects with a couple of short punches.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Walter misses with a jab, cross combination.

Walter gets caught flat footed, as Duggan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Walter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Duggan. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Duggan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Walter defends well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Walter fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Walter tries a head kick but it misses.

Duggan instigates a clinch.
Walter tries to score a body lock takedown but Duggan shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

With the fighters up against the cage, Duggan throws an elbow but misses.
Duggan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Duggan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Duggan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Duggan closes the distance and clinches.

Walter has picked Duggan up - he's going for a ride! Walter dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Duggan is trying to stand up here but Walter is controlling him well.

Duggan is looking for a sweep. Walter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Duggan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Duggan gets the takedown into side control.
Walter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Duggan on the ground.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Duggan wants to stand back up but Walter manages to pass into side control.

That was a close second round but I would say that Roderick Walter will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Walter shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Duggan is trying to defend but Walter finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Walter is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Walter drops an elbow to the side of Duggan's head.
Duggan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Duggan regains full guard. Nicely done.
Duggan looking to control but Walter passes into half guard.
Duggan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Walter is working away from the top position though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Walter in particular looking to stall.
Walter wants to take a breather but Duggan is having none of it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Walter is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Walter throws a strike but Duggan avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Duggan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Duggan controls Walter momentarily but Walter frees himself.
Walter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Duggan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Walter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Duggan was covering up waiting for the punch and Walter finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Walter postures up and lands a big shot to Duggan's brow.

Walter throwing strikes but missing.
Walter engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Duggan will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Duggan gets the takedown into side control.
Walter tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Duggan goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Walter has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Duggan but great work by Walter.

Roderick Walter showed his dominance in that final round.
