Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alex Summers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akito Toyotoku!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yuuki Gou and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Summers lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Toyotoku closes the distance but Summers moves to the side
and Summers counters with a left and a right that stings Toyotoku.
Toyotoku darts in looking for a takedown but Summers gets double underhooks and turns Toyotoku into the cage.
Toyotoku doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Summers counters with a nice low kick that buckles Toyotoku's knee momentarily.
Toyotoku stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Summers.
Toyotoku misses with a takedown attempt
and Summers counters with a nice uppercut.
Alex Summers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Akito Toyotoku.
Toyotoku tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Summers swivels and escapes.
Summers fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Toyotoku has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Toyotoku has a takedown stuffed.
Summers jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Summers scores with a nice body kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Summers throws a nice head kick!
Toyotoku is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Summers and Toyotoku are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Summers throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Toyotoku into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Summers knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Alex Summers!
Alex Summers was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
