The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Eddie Farnsworth and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith lands an overhand right.
A right-left combo lands from Puhovin.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Puhovin has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Smith looks to land a left hand but Puhovin moved out of range nicely.
A left lands for Smith.
That kick from Smith tenderised Puhovin's leg. Puhovin is trying to keep his angry face on.
Smith cracks Puhovin with a right hand to the side of the head.

and Smith counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Smith wants to clinch up but Puhovin keeps it at a distance.
Puhovin throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith looks to throw the jab but Puhovin is out of range.

Smith connects with a leg kick. Puhovin looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A big left from Puhovin misses.
Good standup being displayed there by Smith as he connects with a hook.
Smith lands a leg kick that knocks Puhovin off balance momentarily.

Puhovin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smith as he avoids it easily.
Puhovin looks to score with a jab to the body but Smith is just out of range.

Smith takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Smith blocks the body kick.
Smith wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Puhovin closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A chopping leg kick lands by Smith.
Puhovin thows a leg kick but Smith checks it
and Smith moves into the clinch.
Puhovin tries to break the clinch but Smith is controlling the position.
Smith lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Puhovin backwards.
Smith lands a right hand that snaps the head of Puhovin backwards.
Still in the clinch, Smith scores with a nice short uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith slips under a jab from Puhovin.
Smith tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Puhovin manages to circle out of the way.
Smith misses with a body shot.

Smith struggles to land a body shot inside as Puhovin controls his hands.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Smith creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Smith manages to break the clinch.
Smith moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Smith throws a jab when Puhovin was well out of range.
Puhovin tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Puhovin takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Puhovin misses with a right hand
and Smith counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Smith.
Puhovin is trying to force a seperation but Smith has the dominant position.

Smith lands a hook that snaps the head of Puhovin backwards.
Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smith with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Smith lands with a thumping leg kick.
Smith missing with a left hand there. Puhovin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Puhovin needs to keep his hands up - Smith had a free shot at his head there.
Puhovin is rocked!

Smith walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Puhovin drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Smith swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Puhovin's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Smith!
