Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sam Hitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Conde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Conde shoots in but no luck this time.
Conde tries a head kick but it misses.

Conde has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hitz uses from the top position.

Hitz tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Conde smiles and moves away.

and Conde counters with a good, hard body kick but Hitz shrugs it off.

It looks like Fernando Conde has been cut.
Hitz tries to clinch but Conde is having none of it.

and Conde makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Hitz really felt that one!

Hitz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Conde shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Conde was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hitz takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hitz tries to reverse the position but Conde maintains control.
Conde wants to control the pace but Hitz is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hitz is wriggling around trying to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
BOOM! Conde connects with a massive shot to the dome!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Hitz swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Conde misses with a straight left.
Conde takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Hitz throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hitz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Conde, pushing him back against the cage.
Conde breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Conde is looking to clinch but Hitz is avoiding it.
Conde swats away the attempt to clinch by Hitz.

and Hitz counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Conde thinking.

Conde stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

and Hitz counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hitz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Conde's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Conde duly obliges.
Conde cracks Hitz with a right hand to the side of the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Conde drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Hitz is trying to keep Conde in close.
Hitz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Conde is one step ahead there.

Conde has hold of Hitz's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hitz manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
