Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pepe LePew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Bates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pepe LePew!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LePew bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Bates moves into the clinch.
LePew is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bates gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Bates displaying some good clinch control by pressing LePew up against the cage.
LePew has Bates pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bates manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
LePew is looking to control Bates's arms but Bates gets an underhook and turns him. Now LePew has his back to the cage.
LePew gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bates.
Bates trying to land knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
LePew tries to pull guard but Bates holds him up against the cage and eventually LePew drops back down to his feet.
James Bates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pepe LePew.

LePew swings wildly with an uppercut but Bates uses good head movement to avoid it.

Bates jumps guard.
LePew has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bates is proving hard to escape from.
LePew must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

LePew has gone for a leg lock! Bates slips out almost immediately though and dives into LePew's guard.

Bates might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Bates slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Bates throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
LePew can't do much from the bottom here.

Bates stands up and beckons LePew to his feet.
LePew closes the distance and clinches up with Bates, looking for a takedown. LePew pushes Bates against the cage but Bates circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
LePew is looking to clinch.
Bates tries to score a power double leg takedown but LePew sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bates somewhat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fight stays on the outside here - LePew looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bates avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bates went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
LePew tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bates sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten LePew somewhat.
LePew tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bates swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bates misses with a takedown attempt - LePew sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
LePew appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

LePew throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bates was covering up waiting for the punch and LePew finishes the takedown easily into guard.

LePew is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
LePew throws a strike but Bates rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bates loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Bates closes the distance and clinches.
Bates tries to score a body lock takedown but LePew shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
LePew pushes off an throws an elbow but Bates leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Bates manages to pull guard.
LePew trying to control the position from guard on top but Bates is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bates being controlled here, momentarily.

Bates not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Bates is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst LePew is controlling him.
Bates keeping moving, preventing LePew from controlling successfully.
LePew missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
LePew content to stall in guard here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Bates wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
LePew changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bates tries to avoid it but LePew manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bates to the ground. Bates escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bates.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
LePew fails with a takedown attempt.
Bates wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Bates is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that LePew can do to turn this around?
LePew looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bates is fending him off so far but LePew persists. Nope, Bates circles away and we're back to standing.

As LePew tries to get set, Bates tries to push him back and clinch up but LePew manages to avoid the attempt.

LePew tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bates smiles and moves away.

Bates has managed to clinch.

LePew looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
LePew tries for a takedown. No joy.
Bates drops to a knee looking for a takedown but LePew gets the underhooks and prevents it.
LePew looking to slow down the pace here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bates keeps control of LePew as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
LePew misses with a body punch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Bates shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bates showed some decent athleticism there.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if LePew can do anything to dispel that myth.
