The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fuerte gets the takedown into side control.
Fazen wants to control but Fuerte postures up.
Fazen is working to avoid the ground and pound but Fuerte connects with a decent elbow.
The ground and pound from Fuerte seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Fuerte wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fazen, who protects the arm well.
Fazen manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Fuerte is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Fazen sees it coming and defends easily.
Fazen is trying to stand.

Fazen is looking to control Fuerte's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fazen avoid being mounted?

Fuerte is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Fuerte is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fuerte has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Fuerte goes for an armbar but Fazen turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Fazen.
Fuerte is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Fazen is aware though and is defending well.
Fazen gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Fazen tries to close the distance and clinch but Fuerte swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fuerte tries a quick counter leg kick but Fazen is wise to it.
Fuerte shoots in for a double leg but Fazen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Fuerte shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fazen's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Fazen looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Fazen is trying to control the position but Fuerte postures up.

Fuerte prevents Fazen from getting back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Charlie Fazen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice sprawl there from Fazen as Fuerte shoots in.
Fuerte leaves Fazen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Fazen is breathing heavily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fazen is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Fuerte's half guard.
Fazen tries to stand but can't do so whilst Fuerte controls his leg.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Fuerte is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Fazen is surviving well by controlling Fuerte's body position as best he can.
Fuerte postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Fazen looks a forlorn figure.

Fuerte wants to control the pace but Fazen is squirming around nicely.

Fazen tries to lock up and control but Fuerte gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The referee warns Fazen that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fuerte is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Fuerte!
