Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
17 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lyle Willems!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Part!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Part fails with the takedown.
As Part backs away, Willems returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Part fails with an attempt to clinch.
Willems blocks the body kick.
Part with a lazy takedown attempt
and Willems counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Willems is looking to take a break and control but Part is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Willems tries to pass to full mount but Part defends it.
Willems is working hard here to advance position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Willems is trying to work for a kimura but Part is defending well.
Willems definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Part is doing well to control the position and prevent Willems from advancing to side control.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Part is not content to let Willems control the position.
Willems lands with a punch from half guard.
Willems throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Willems moves into full mount! Part won't be happy about that!
Part wants to control but Willems is having none of it.
Part is working to get back to half guard.

Willems unloads with some shots from mount but Part bucks and avoids them well.
Part is in all sorts of trouble here.
Willems thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Willems throws some wild stikes that Part manages to avoid easily.
Willems avoids the attempt from Part to control.
Part is bucking up trying to escape but Willems cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Part is desperately trying to improve his position but Willems has a good base and remains in mount.
Part holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Willems tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Part keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Part wants to control but Willems is having none of it.
Willems throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Part because Willems loaded up on that one.
Willems in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Part is rocked!
Part gets back to half guard.
Part is still in real trouble! Can Willems finish him?
Part wants to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Willems working Part over with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Willems not doing much here.
Willems trying to mount his opponent but Part defends it.
Part keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Willems looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Willems seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Willems uses his free foot to push down on Part's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Part.
Willems putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Willems postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Part in real trouble here! The ref calls for Part to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lyle Willems!
In his post fight interview, Lyle Willems started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
