Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dirk Mcknight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Rouse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dirk Mcknight has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dirk Mcknight! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damian Rouse! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Dean Styles and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rouse closes the distance and clinches. Mcknight tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Rouse has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mcknight uses from the top position. Rouse working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mcknight. Mcknight lands a couple of decent looking shots. Mcknight postures up.
Mcknight scoring with punches to the head and body. Rouse is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mcknight is controlling him. Rouse really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mcknight. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rouse controls Mcknight momentarily but Mcknight frees himself. Rouse pulls Mcknight in close to his closed guard and prevents Mcknight from doing any damage or advancing position. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mcknight throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Mcknight is looking to work some ground and pound but Rouse has wrist control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mcknight. Mcknight shoots in looking for a takedown. Rouse tries to sprawl out of it but Mcknight keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rouse manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dirk Mcknight. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rouse lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Mcknight throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rouse works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Rouse has momentary wrist control but Mcknight slips an elbow through the middle. Mcknight throws a big elbow that misses. Mcknight missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Mcknight in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rouse preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Mcknight throwing strikes but missing. Mcknight makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Mcknight loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Mcknight landing with the ground and pound. Mcknight throwing strikes from guard but Rouse blocks nicely. Rouse trying to control the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Rouse scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Mcknight could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Rouse tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mcknight was well out of range. Poor timing from Rouse. Mcknight swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Mcknight dives in and grabs Rouse's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rouse pushes down on Mcknight's head and hops out. Mcknight drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rouse takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rouse tries to improve position but can't. Mcknight lands some shots froms side control. Rouse is trying to improve his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Dirk Mcknight will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Rouse tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mcknight just stands there and leans against the cage. Dirk Mcknight has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Rouse. Rouse jumps guard and drags Mcknight to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Mcknight throws a big elbow that misses. Mcknight lands a couple of decent looking shots. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Mcknight stopping the sweep attempt from Rouse.

Mcknight throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rouse works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mcknight's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Rouse preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Mcknight cracks Rouse with a solid left hand. Mcknight content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Rouse wants to control but Mcknight passes easily into half guard.
Dirk Mcknight overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mcknight missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Mcknight throwing shots but Rouse is blocking nicely. Rouse has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mcknight is working away from the top position though.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Rouse shoots in for a takedown but Mcknight shows good takedown defense. Mcknight half committed to a counter leg kick. Rouse fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mcknight avoids it really well and circles away. Mcknight seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Mcknight shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rouse defends it nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcknight slaps away a takedown attempt from Rouse, before circling back to the center of the mat. Mcknight throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rouse was covering up waiting for the punch and Mcknight finishes the takedown easily into guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mcknight accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mcknight stops Rouse from standing up. Rouse has momentary wrist control but Mcknight slips an elbow through the middle.

Rouse wants to control but Mcknight is keeping busy.
Rouse takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Mcknight stops Rouse from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Rouse wants to get back to full guard but Mcknight has passed into side control. Check out the look on Mcknight's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Mcknight landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Rouse gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Mcknight thows a huge punch but Rouse dodges it nicely.
Mcknight wants to work for an arm triangle but Rouse is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Mcknight cracks Rouse with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Mcknight immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Rouse is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Mcknight!
