Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brooks Merritt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brooks Merritt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Quinn! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Merritt digs a good hook to Quinn's body.
Merritt swings and misses with a shot to the body and Quinn counters with a straight right hand. Quinn scores with a crisp jab that stopped Merritt in his tracks. Quinn keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Merritt. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Quinn! But no joy. A telegraphed right hand from Merritt misses the target. Quinn keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Merritt. Merritt lands a really nice looking cross but Quinn seems unphased.
Quinn tries for a takedown but Merritt sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. A looping hook to the body misses from Merritt. Quinn does a little dance to reset his feet. Quinn drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Merritt defends it well. Quinn keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Merritt. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Quinn! But no joy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A slow jab from Merritt misses its intended target. Merritt thows a left - swing and a miss! A left lands for Merritt. Quinn closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Merritt quickly recovers to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Merritt is staying active underneath Quinn, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Quinn is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Merritt is trying to stand up here but Quinn is controlling him well. Merritt tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Quinn has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Merritt is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Quinn tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Merritt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Quinn on the ground. Quinn manages to capitalize on a mistake by Merritt to take his back! Merritt is really stuck here.
Merritt looking very determined here, making life difficult for Quinn.
Merritt wants to control his opponent's hands but Quinn gets his hands free. Quinn has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Merritt's body.
Quinn is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Merritt has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Quinn has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Merritt taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Quinn doesn't care though - he's delighted!
