PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Robles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Papa Harlow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Papa Harlow will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sebastian Robles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Papa Harlow!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harlow shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Robles napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Robles is pushing Harlow's head away, looking to escape. Harlow manages to hold on to the position though.
Robles tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Harlow wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Harlow working the ground and pound but Robles is defending the strikes.
Robles is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Harlow has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Harlow trying to control the position but Robles is working away.

Robles throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Robles moves into the clinch.
Robles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Robles gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Harlow looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Robles passes into half guard.
Harlow is looking for a sweep. Robles is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Harlow has a hand on Robles's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Robles takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Harlow wants to control but Robles is having none of it.
Harlow is in all sorts of trouble here.
Robles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Harlow really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Robles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Robles is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Harlow to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Harlow shrugs it off.
Robles fails to move to back control.

Harlow is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Harlow wants to hold on but Robles pushes him away.
Robles lands a couple of good shots and Harlow has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Robles really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Harlow.
Harlow is trying to break free.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Robles is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Robles gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Robles gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Robles apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Robles throws a right and a left that Harlow avoids nicely.
Harlow changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sebastian Robles dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Harlow gets a double leg takedown into Robles's guard.
Robles has a closed guard, preventing Harlow from standing up.

Robles scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Harlow feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Harlow is fighting to break Robles's control of his arms but Robles is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Harlow wants to pass the guard but Robles is keeping the position.

Robles manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Robles is fighting off a takedown attempt but Harlow is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Robles to the mat. Robles regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Harlow drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Robles manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Harlow has Robles in his guard.

Robles is standing up over Harlow. Harlow looks to escape but Robles dives into side control.
Harlow is breathing heavily.

Robles decides to stand back up.

Harlow fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Robles sprawls well initially but Harlow persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Robles controlling the position for now.
Harlow tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Robles slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Robles pulls Harlow in to control the position.

Robles has his feet on Harlow's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Robles is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Harlow can do to turn this around?

Harlow scores with a takedown into Robles's guard.

Robles has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Harlow has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Harlow has hold of one of Robles's legs. Robles is fighting the takedown attempt but Harlow gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Robles scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Robles tries to close the distance and clinch but Harlow swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Harlow changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Robles takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Robles throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Harlow tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Robles is in Harlow's guard.

Robles stands and steps away. Harlow gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Robles gets a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Robles pulls guard effortlessly.
Harlow is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Sebastian Robles overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Robles pulls Harlow in close to his closed guard and prevents Harlow from doing any damage or advancing position.

Robles has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Harlow is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Robles is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Harlow shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Robles's guard.
Robles wants to stand and escape but Harlow is having none of it.
Robles is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Harlow is looking to work some ground and pound but Robles has wrist control.
Harlow stops Robles from standing up.

Robles looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Robles seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Harlow wants to control from the top but Robles keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Robles shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Harlow as he avoids it easily.

Harlow closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Robles did well to prevent Harlow getting side control.
Robles tries to kick Harlow off but Harlow keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Robles manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Harlow keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Robles is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Harlow pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Harlow has picked Robles up - he's going for a ride! Harlow dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Robles kicks Harlow off and gets back to his feet.

Robles has his hands on Harlow's head, controlling the position.

Harlow is looking to advance position but Robles has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Harlow is bucking up trying to escape but Robles cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Harlow tries to hold on but Robles pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Harlow is wriggling around trying to escape.
Robles landing punches.
Robles lands a big shot there that rocks Harlow but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Robles prevents Harlow from getting the reversal.
Harlow tries to lock up and control but Robles gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
BOOM! Robles connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Papa Harlow has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sebastian Robles is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Robles content just to control the position here.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sebastian Robles.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Robles, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
