The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McLaughlin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Kline is looking for a sweep. McLaughlin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McLaughlin seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Kline is trying to stand up here but McLaughlin is controlling him well. McLaughlin wants to control but Kline is keeping him busy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kline is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McLaughlin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McLaughlin's back! Kline avoiding McLaughlin 's attempts to control his hands. Kline's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Chase McLaughlin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
