Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, KJ Talley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 13 - 2, fighting out of New York, Joey Dixon! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dixon throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Dixon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Talley blocks a jab. Dixon throws out a powerful jab. A looping hook to the body misses from Talley. Dixon does a little dance to reset his feet. Talley avoids the body shot from Dixon.
Joey Dixon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dixon fails with a takedown attempt. Talley takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Dixon fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Dixon throws a leg kick but Talley checks it. Talley just misses with a punch to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dixon takes a swing at Talley's ribcage but misses. Dixon tries to clinch but Talley moves out of range. Talley throws a quick counter kick to the body but Dixon avoids it. Dixon tries to clinch but Talley moves out of range. Dixon looks to land a left hand but Talley moved out of range nicely. A kick lands to the mid section there for Talley. Talley misses with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dixon tries to close the distance and clinch but Talley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Talley checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Talley is looking for a counter combo. Talley lands a front kick. Dixon looks winded! Talley lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
It looks like Joey Dixon has been cut. Dixon throws a head kick that misses. An attempted straight right counter from Talley misses the target. Talley buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Talley with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Talley keeps the fight on the outside. Talley connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Talley throws a monster overhand right that drops Dixon! Talley follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). KJ Talley! After the fight, KJ Talley was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
