18 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Hopkins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
27 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Zorba The Greek! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hopkins showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from The Greek.

Hopkins is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Zorba The Greek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hopkins shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts The Greek as he jumps to the side. The Greek throws a nice looking combination but Hopkins bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by The Greek!

The Greek wants to control from the top but Hopkins keeps moving. Hopkins has a closed guard, preventing The Greek from standing up. Hopkins has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Hopkins is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The Greek stands and throws Hopkins's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. The Greek thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The Greek is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hopkins knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The Greek tries to advance to mount but Hopkins denies him. Hopkins sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Hopkins wants to control but The Greek is keeping busy and won't allow it. Hopkins controlling the position for now. The Greek seems to be working for a kimura but Hopkins defends the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hopkins wants to get back to full guard. Hopkins trying to control but The Greek postures up.

The Greek is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hopkins controls The Greek momentarily but The Greek frees himself. Hopkins pulls The Greek in close to his closed guard and prevents The Greek from doing any damage or advancing position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zorba The Greek dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The Greek changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hopkins looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The Greek goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hopkins rolls with the submission and now he's on top in The Greek's guard! Nice work there by Hopkins! The Greek has his foot on Hopkins's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hopkins works his way back into a safe position though. Hopkins won't allow The Greek to sweep him here. The Greek is adopting a defensive guard. Hopkins sitting in guard, not really doing much. Hopkins is in close to The Greek's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hopkins looking to pass the guard. The Greek has his foot on Hopkins's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hopkins works his way back into a safe position though. The Greek tries to land a sweep but no joy. The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. The Greek keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hopkins tries to close the distance and clinch up but The Greek swats him away and circles back towards the center. The Greek shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. The Greek showed some decent athleticism there. The Greek wants to take a breather but Hopkins is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The Greek looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Zorba The Greek has got the better of the ground game so far. The Greek is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hopkins is just riding it out for now. The Greek eventually gives up the hold. Hopkins wants to control but The Greek is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. The Greek is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The Greek prevents Hopkins from improving his position. Hopkins trying to hold on to The Greek's head to control him but The Greek postures up.
The Greek is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Hopkins still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Hopkins has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! The Greek sneaks back into half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Anthony Hopkins has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The Greek tries to roll over but Hopkins keeps him under control.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Anthony Hopkins. Well The Greek has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
