PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyotoo Machidaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Butch McDanton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machidaa comes to the cage accompanied by Pray For Plagues. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lyotoo Machidaa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Butch McDanton! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McDanton tries for a takedown but Machidaa sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. McDanton fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Machidaa tries to clinch up. Machidaa closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Machidaa lands in his opponent's guard. Machidaa won't allow McDanton to sweep him here. McDanton working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Machidaa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Machidaa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McDanton is trying to control the position but Machidaa postures up. Machidaa trying to control the position from guard on top but McDanton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McDanton looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Machidaa passes into side control.
McDanton wants to control but Machidaa postures up. Machidaa is staying tight to McDanton's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's one minute gone in the round. McDanton takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. McDanton is trying to control Machidaa's posture but Machidaa avoids it. Machidaa decides to stand back up. Machidaa steps back and let's McDanton get back to his feet. McDanton looks gassed! Machidaa wants to clinch. Machidaa wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Machidaa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Machidaa stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. McDanton tries for a takedown but Machidaa circles away easily and Machidaa counters with a single leg into guard. McDanton didn't expect that. Lyotoo Machidaa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Butch McDanton. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Machidaa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Machidaa gets to his feet. McDanton looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Machidaa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Machidaa wanted to stand there but McDanton had control of the position. McDanton looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McDanton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Machidaa sitting in guard, not really doing much. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Machidaa wants to stand but McDanton is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McDanton escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Machidaa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. McDanton is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Machidaa rolls with it to try and escape but McDanton cranks on the arm and Machidaa is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
